When was the very first BABYBJÖRN^® Baby Carrier launched?
The BABYBJÖRN^® Baby Carrier was first launched in 1973. It was originally called "Close-to-heart" and was a simpler version of today's baby carrier. Since then, continuous development has paved the way for the BABYBJÖRN^® Baby Carrier Original, of today.

What materials are used for the BABYBJÖRN^® Baby Carriers?
BABYBJÖRN^® puts a lot of effort into finding materials that are not harmful. The BABYBJÖRN^® Baby Carrier Original, the BABYBJÖRN^® Baby Carrier Active, the BABYBJÖRN^® Baby Carrier Air, as well as all other BABYBJÖRN^® products, are made of toxic-free materials. In the Baby Carrier Original, the fabric is 100% cotton. The fabric of the Baby Carrier Active is a very durable mix made of polyester and cotton. The fabric of the Baby Carrier Air is a mix of durable polyester mesh. All fabrics on the Baby Carriers are Oeko-Tex approved.

When can I start using the BABYBJÖRN^® Baby Carrier Original / BABYBJÖRN^® Baby Carrier Air / BABYBJÖRN^® Baby Carrier Active with my baby?
Our Baby Carrier Original, Baby Carrier Active and Baby Carrier Air grow with your baby thanks to unique sliding buckle. You can start using them from your baby's first week as long as he or she weighs a minimum 8 lbs. The baby carriers be used until the baby weighs 25 lbs.(11 kg) for the BABYBJÖRN^® Baby Carrier Original and the BABYBJÖRN^® Baby Carrier Air and 26 lbs. (12 kg) for the BABYBJÖRN^® Baby Carrier Active.

How long at a time can I carry my baby in BABYBJÖRN^® Baby Carriers?
Our Baby Carriers are developed in cooperation with babies, parents and medical experts and are well adapted to sufficiently support the baby's back and head as well as take strain off his or her hips. You can carry your baby for as long as he is happy and content. When your baby is too small to hold his head up by himself it is a good idea not to carry him for long periods of time. Everybody needs to change positions once in a while, and so does your baby. We recommend you be aware of your baby's needs at all times and alternate between activities.

How large an infant (weight) can be carried in the BABYBJÖRN^® Baby Carrier Original / BABYBJÖRN^® Baby Carrier Air / BABYBJÖRN^® Baby Carrier Active?
The Baby Carrier Original and the Baby Carrier Air can be used up to a weight of 25 lbs.(11 kg.) and the Baby Carrier Active until 26 lbs.(12 kg).

When can my baby start sitting facing forward in the BABYBJÖRN^® Baby Carriers?
A small baby needs good head support. BABYBJÖRN^® Baby Carriers provide a head support that is individually adjusted to fit your baby. When the baby's neck is strong enough he may find it more interesting to sit facing forward.

How do I wash my BABYBJÖRN^® Baby Carriers?
The BABYBJÖRN^® Baby Carriers are machine washable in warm water, gentle cycle. Wash separately. Don't use chlorine bleach or fabric softener. Let drip dry (no dryer). Iron at low temperature. (Never iron trim.) Improper care will void any and all warranties.

Will the darker-colored parts on my Baby Carrier bleed onto the lighter parts when washing?
BABYBJÖRN^® textile designers strive to use only the highest quality fabrics and coloring methods. If you follow the instructions for proper care and washing, there should not be any problems with discoloring.

My BABYBJÖRN^® Baby Carrier seems too tight for my baby. What can I do?
Make sure that the sliding buckle (where you adjust the child's sitting position) is in the correct position for your baby's height. If it still feels too tight, increase the length of the straps by adjusting the strap buckles. This will allow more space for both you and your baby. How do I put on the BABYBJÖRN^® Baby Carriers?

I am a size Small and my husband is a size Extra Large, can we use the same BABYBJÖRN^® Baby Carrier?
Yes, the straps on all BABYBJÖRN^® Baby Carriers are made long to fit persons ranging in size from S to XL or larger.

I have a BABYBJÖRN^® Baby Carrier Original purchased before 1st of January 1999. I have heard that there is a Retro fit kit available for this version. How do I retrieve one?

My back hurts when carrying my baby in BABYBJÖRN^® Baby Carrier Original.
Please make sure that the cross-buckle is in its right position, at the bottom of the shoulder blades. Also make sure you have tightened the straps, so that the carrier is not too loose on you. For maximum comfort, your baby should sit at a height where you are able to look down and kiss his or her head. If you still experience pains in your back, you may want to consider using a BABYBJÖRN^® Baby Carrier Active, which gives extra support for your back.

How often does BABYBJÖRN^® launch new colors on the BABYBJÖRN^® Baby Carrier Original?
Typically, at least one new color is launched every year.

Our Baby Carrier Active is a further development of our popular and comfortable Baby Carrier Original. It has been developed for those who live active lives. It also provides more lumbar support than the Baby Carrier Original.

The lumbar support on my BABYBJÖRN^® Baby Carrier Active is too high/too low, what should I do?
When putting on the BABYBJÖRN^® Baby Carrier Active and before adjusting the straps, pull the lumbar support into a correct position in your lumbar area. The lumbar support slides up/downwards on the sides of the straps when pulled. Start adjusting the lumbar support straps and then the shoulder straps.

BabySitter 1-2-3

When can my baby start using the BABYBJÖRN^® Baby Sitter 1-2-3 (and for how long?
Our very popular Baby Sitter 1-2-3 is perfect for newborn babies and children up to two years of age for playing, resting and sleeping. It is suitable for children up to 29 lbs (13kg).

Are the fabric seat and restraint system on the BABYBJÖRN^® Baby Sitter 1-2-3 machine washable?
Yes, they are both machine washable. Wash separately in warm water, gentle cycle. Do not use chlorine bleach or fabric softener. Let drip dry (no dryer). Iron at low temperature if needed.

Do BABYBJÖRN^® products contain any substances that could be harmful to humans or nature?
No chemical additives containing cadmium, lead, phthalates, bromine or chlorine have been used. No material such as PVC is used. All plastic materials are recyclable.

Can the rubber matting and the rubber feet on the BABYBJÖRN^® Safety Step come off?
All materials used for BABYBJÖRN^® products have been carefully tested for durability. The rubber matting and rubber feet on the BABYBJÖRN^® Safe Step are fastened with a special method so that normal use shouldn't cause the matting or feet to come off.

How much weight can the BABYBJÖRN^® Safe Step handle?
Although the BABYBJÖRN^® Safe Step is primarily made for children to help them reach things easier, the Safe Step can take the weight of an average adult as well.

How young/old can my child be to use the BABYBJÖRN^® Potty Chair?
Opinions on potty training children greatly differ. BABYBJÖRN^® develops ergonimically correct potties that children can use when they are ready.

Does the BABYBJÖRN^® Toilet Trainer really fit any toilet seat?
BABYBJÖRN^® Toilet Trainer fits most ordinary toilet seats thanks to the adjustable dial.

Can a child place the BABYBJÖRN^® Toilet Trainer on the toilet seat by himself?
The dial on the BABYBJÖRN^® Toilet Trainer need only be set once, the first time you use it. After that, the child can easily place and remove it by himself. We always suggest, however, that an adult assists the child when in the bathroom, especially when using the toilet.

Does the BABYBJÖRN^® Toilet Trainer stay in place?
The rubber edge and the wings on the underside of the BABYBJÖRN^® Toilet Trainer allow it to fit tightly against the toilet seat and make it stay in place.

Kitchen

Can I wash the BABYBJÖRN^® products in the dishwasher?
Yes. However, you should not place the BABYBJÖRN^® Bib near the heat element inside the dishwasher.

Are the products in the BABYBJÖRN^® Kitchen line FDA approved?
All materials in our Kitchen line have been approved by either the American FDA (Food and Drug Administration), or its equivalent in Europe.

When can I start using the BABYBJÖRN^® Bib / BABYBJÖRN^® Soft Bib with my child?
Both our Bib and Soft Bib are developed to fit babies from about 4 months and up. You can use them for as long as they comfortably fit your child

Why did my BABYBJÖRN^® kitchen product malform / discolor?
Heat can be one reason. Never place the products near the element inside the dishwasher. Discoloring can occur occasionally when plastic products come in contact with acidic foods such as tomatoes, carrots or vinegar.

Can the white inner plate be detached from the colored part of the plate and spoon set?
Yes. Press hard on the bottom of the white plate to push it out from the colored part.

Why did the plate crack / malform?
Extreme temperatures can cause cracks and malformations. Never boil anything on the plate, and never place plate near the heat element inside the dishwasher.

Why does the BABYBJÖRN^® Plate have a three-clover shape?
Our product developers took a close look at children's behavior when eating in order to develop a plate and spoon that would make it easier for a child to eat by himself. The studies showed that when eating from a round plate, the child had difficulties scooping up food on the spoon because the food kept going around in circles. The solution was to make a plate with corners on the inside.

Can I buy the BABYBJÖRN^® Spoon separately?
Yes. Additional spoons can be purchased in packages of two (Blue/ Red and Green/Yellow).

Does the BABYBJÖRN^® Feeding Spoon contain silicone?
No silicone is used. The spoon's handle is made of Polypropylene (PP) and the bowl of the spoon is made of Thermo Plastic Elastomer (TPE). All materials are recyclable.

How do I wash the BABYBJÖRN^® Eat & Play Smock?
BABYBJÖRN^® Eat & Play Smock is machine washable. Use the cold cycle.

Diaper Bags & Diaper Backpack

I have lost the changing mat/insulated bottle holder to my BABYBJÖRN^® Diaper Bag /Diaper Backpack. Can I buy one separately?
We suggest you go to the store where you bought your BABYBJÖRN^® Diaper Bag/Diaper Backpack. They will place an order for a replacement for you.

Is the BABYBJÖRN^® Diaper Bag /Diaper Backpack water resistant?
The materials for the BABYBJÖRN^® Diaper Bag/Diaper Backpack are water resistant to a certain extent.

Are there any special pockets for bottles and baby food jars in the BABYBJÖRN^® Diaper Bag?
The BABYBJÖRN^® Diaper Bag is developed to be very practical and user-friendly. It has several pockets for clothes, diapers, pacifiers and special pockets for baby food jars and bottles. A handy, insulated bottle holder, attached with Velcro¨ and easily removable, is also included.

My BABYBJÖRN^® Diaper Bag is hard to close, what can I do?
Pull all four zippers the entire way up and then turn the tongues into the hole.

Is the shoulder strap on the BABYBJÖRN^® Diaper Bag adjustable?
Yes.

Can I hang my BABYBJÖRN^® Diaper Bag on a stroller?
We suggest that you don't do this since the weight of the bag and its content may cause the stroller to tip over.

Is the BABYBJÖRN^® Diaper Bag washable?
Should the bag get dirty, simply wipe it off with a damp cloth.

Are there any special pockets for bottles in the BABYBJÖRN^® Diaper Backpack?
On the sides of the backpack there are two padded pockets with diagonal zippers that hold bottles in place while also keeping the contents warm or cold longer.

How do I wash the BABYBJÖRN^® Diaper Backpack?
The BABYBJÖRN^® Diaper Backpack is machine washable at cold cycle. Drip dry. Do not put in the dryer.
