BABYBJÖRN® Baby Carrier Receives Cookie Magazine Word of Mom Seal of Approval

Readers' Choice Awards recognize products that make moms' lives better

February 10, 2009— Danderyd, Sweden

Cookie Magazine's 2009 "Word of Mom" Readers' Choice Awards recognized BABYBJÖRN® as moms' number one choice for baby carriers. Swedish-based BABYBJÖRN® creates innovative infant and toddler products, dedicated to safety, functionality and quality. It is best known for its line of front baby carriers— designed to help parents enjoy the bonding afforded by carrying their newborns— and also offers popular mobility, kitchen and bathroom items.

The "Word of Mom" awards recognized 65 products and services that make moms' lives better. Thousands of visitors submitted their favorite finds through Cookiemag.com in March 2008, and the winners were selected based on these submissions and named in the magazine's February 2009 issue.

"Moms rank other moms as their number-one source of advice— ahead of their families, the Internet, even pediatricians— which is why we launched Word of Mom, a kind of seal of approval for products and services that showcase moms' collected wisdom," said Alanna Stang, Cookie executive editor. "The seal canonizes the experts moms really are."

BABYBJÖRN® offers four baby carrier models: the Baby Carrier Original, Baby Carrier Air, Baby Carrier Active and Baby Carrier Synergy. All adjustments are made from the front, making BABYBJÖRN® Baby Carriers easy to put on or remove without assistance.

The company designed its baby carriers to provide proper support for a newborn's head, neck, spine and hips. BABYBJÖRN® Baby Carriers support the newborn in the inward-facing position for close, tummy-to-tummy contact with mom or dad, and the built-in head support provides important head and neck stabilization. Baby can then face outward once she grows.

BABYBJÖRN® Baby Carriers also facilitate vital closeness to help strengthen the infant-parent bond. It is for this reason that Rainbow Babies and Children's Hospital, one of the top five pediatric hospitals in America according to U.S. News & World Report, recommends the use of BABYBJÖRN® Baby Carriers. Rainbow Babies and Children's Hospital published the paramount health research on the importance of infant-parent bonding.

Additionally, BABYBJÖRN® ensures that all fabrics used in its products that come in contact with baby's skin are Class-1 Oeko-Tex certified. This rigorous certification means that they are absolutely safe and free from any substances that can harm infants.

"For more than 35 years, BABYBJÖRN® has developed baby carriers to make it easier for parents and infants to enjoy the important closeness that tummy-to-tummy contact provides from day one, and the bond it helps to creates," said Annika Sander, head of communications at BABYBJÖRN®. "We are thrilled that the participants in Cookie's 'Word of Mom' awards recognized this work, and found that our baby carriers make their lives better."
